A show opening that’s intimate, fun and will have you in your feels. Spoken word, live art, and a space where you can show up exactly as you are without the stiff white walls. Just good energy, good people, and honest work.
I’m showcasing paintings from three collections and performing the journal pages written alongside them.
FEAR-LESS is where it starts. My first act of defiance against my own perfectionism. I splatter painted for the first time! The page I’m performing asks a question I was terrified to answer: what would my life look like if I were truly fearless?
One for the Pages is the middle. Delicate, heartfelt pages where younger Marlis was figuring it out (tbh, still figuring it out). Relationships that wrecked me. Heartbreak I kept crawling back into. The kind of pain you leave on paper because no one wants to see it out loud. She deserves to be witnessed.
Marlis is where I land. The self love collection. Despite everything, the hardships, the heartbreaks, the career struggles, the moments I’ve been my own worst critic, I keep coming back to this: I have to honor me. Even when it’s hard. Especially then.
